The University of Mysore, is a public university in India.
It was founded by the then Maharaja of Mysore, His Highness Sri Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV and his Dewan, the renowned engineer-statesman Sir M.Visvesvarayya, on July 27, 1916.
The Maharaja of Mysore became its first chancellor. The University came into existence on the basis of a report on educational progress in the United States and Australia, submitted by Messrs Thomas Denham and C.R.Reddy who visited these countries respectively.
The University of Mysore became the first University outside the domain of the English administration in India, the sixth University in India as a whole, and the first ever University in Karnataka.
It is a state University of the affiliating type, and became autonomous on March 3, 1956, when it gained recognition from the University Grants Commission.

Mysore was the first city in Asia to take up planned development resulting in enviable amount of lung space and open areas in the form of parks, gardens and forests.
The City Improvement Trust Board (CITB), constituted by Nalvudi Krishnaraja Wadiyar in 1903, and the visionary diwans who worked under him, conceived well-built roads and aesthetically pleasing buildings which earned Mysore an international reputation for urban planning. The reputation was intact till late 1970s and mid 1980s after which the urban decay set in.

The INS Mysore (D60) is a Delhi-class destroyer of the Indian Navy built in India.
The ship was commissioned in 1999, and is on active service as of 2008. Mysore is named after the city of Mysore in the State of Karnataka. The double-headed eagle from the sigil of the royal House of Wodeyar of Mysore is used in the crest of Mysore. The keel of the Mysore was laid down in February 1991 and launched on 4 June 1993. Sea trials began in the Arabian Sea in March 1999, and it was commissioned on 2 June, 1999 by Shri. Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The commissioning CO of Mysore was Captain Rajiv Dhamdhere.
This ship is the successor to another ship of the same name (formerly HMS Nigeria). HMS Nigeria was a British Fiji class cruiser that served the Indian Navy from 1957 to 1985.
INS Mysore is of INS Delhi and INS Mumbai Standards :) There is No INS Chennai OR INS Bangalore :) CHEERS!!
