Highway 18, a manna from heaven for vegans, is located on Hunsur Road, bang opposite Hotel Monarch. It is vegetarian to the core. The ala carte menu is eclectic with best of South and North Indian, Chinese and Continental cuisine. Highway 18, a unique offering to the people of Mysore, is away from the congestion, noise and parking woes of the city. Very spacious with pleasing interiors, the restaurant can accommodate 200 people. The drive-in area can accommodate 40 cars. The restaurant also has a spacious lawn for those who want a whiff of fresh air. Children too have a special play area. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, evening snacks and dinner. Also there is an exclusive section dedicated to ice-creams and desserts. The kitchen is ultra-modern with all the mod-cons and the staff courteous. So bon appétit !
Based on the positive reviews, we visited the Gokul Veg restaurant in the hotel today. The persons who took our orders were not well versed with the ingredients of Seekh Kabab, which put us off. We had to ask for a more experienced waiter. Eventually, we got one, and after that we had could get enough information to make right choices.. There were some slip ups in service, such as no cutlery and no side plates were provided. Eventually, when the food started to appear on our table, we forgot all our woes and relished the dishes which were prepared with care and as per our request. We normally judge the restaurant by their Dal Makhani. But, they did not have it available today, so we had to settle for Dal Tadka. Later on we got to know that the staff is still new, so we were prepared to give them the benefit of doubt! If the service quality improves and they are able to get knowledgeable staff, and waiter who understand right behaviours, it can become a really wonderful place worth any of the famous brands in the industry for North Indian food.
Highway 18 offers a good veg options on the Hunsur highway. They have both open & inside sitting areas.
Food and service at Highway 18 is good.
