Chamundi

Prided as one among the top 7 sacred hills of the country, the Chamundi hills stands tall at a height of 1000m. The hill derives the name from the goddess Chamundi who defeated the tyrant ruler of the Mysore kingdom- Mahishasura. As per mythology, the tyrant king ruled Mysore and it was this iconic battle which brought peace to the city and hence atop the hill, there is a temple dedicated to the goddess.

The hills provide a fantastic panoramic view of the city, the race course, Lalit Mahal palace, Amba Vilas palace of, lakes, trees of Mysore and the recent trends in which the city is shaping at its outskirts. The hill could be reached either by a public transport or a personal vehicle. A favourite pass time here would be to take the 1000 steps to the top on an early morning to reach the top. Along the way, we do meet the Nandi, a statue which is 16ft high and 25 ft long which dates back to a few generations.

The top attractions on the hill are of course the temple which has the idol of the deity of the royal family – Chamundeswari. The temple dates back to a renovation in 1827 and much older when it comes to its origin. The temple is usually thronged with visitors and the special entrance too which is at a cost of Rs 20, or Rs 100 depending on how long you’d want to wait and how far from the idol you are given the darshan. It would be ideal to go in a little early to beat the rush of people.

The hill also hosts a Mahabaleshwara temple next to the main temple and this is the oldest temple atop the hill. This temple records to as earlier as 950AD.

A statue atop the hill of Mahishasura is quite an attraction for visitors here, the way the demon is built and a snake on one hand and his weapon on the other is quite a sight whether it is viewed from the comical angle or even the artistic angle. It certainly is one amongst the most famous stops for a photograph. There also is a temple on the top which belongs to the kings called the Rajendra Vilas but unfortunately entry is restricted there.

The hill is also famous for the viewpoints which give an aerial view of the city and frequented by people of all age groups. It is possibly one of the very few spots which cater to all age groups quite effectively! The time restrictions are minimal to the hill, early mornings work great for people who’d love to get the morning fresh air from the hill and a great exercise, for the temple 10-2 or 4-7 would be ideal since it is closed in the noons and for a great view, the evenings around 6 would be a great bet and it always a delight to see the city slowly light up during the night.

I was wondering if you ever considered changing the page layout of
your site? Its very well written; I love what youve got
to say. But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect with it better.
Youve got an awful lot of text for only having one or 2 images.
Maybe you could space it out better?

Here is my weblog - rooms for rent los angeles (Christian)
